... Why Choose UCP of NEPA ...
Starting with the core value that all children are entitled to the best start possible, UCP of NEPA provides several specialized services for children who have a disability or a developmental delay through our Children's Center located in Clarks Summit.
- One of these specialized services is Early Intervention (EI) services. EI services are provided to children with disabilities/ developmental delays, from birth to the age of three in the child's natural environment, their home or child care center or community surroundings. Specific services are based on the child’s individual plan and may include specialized, instruction, developmental activities, physical and/or speech therapies.
- Lekotek is another specialized service that UCP of NEPA provides to children with disabilities/ developmental delays, four years of age to 12. Lekotek is a unique learning center helping encourage the child's development and promote interaction of child and family. This is done through play strategies and adapted toys. Lekotek also serves as a resource center where specialized toys can be borrowed to continue play at home.
- Technology is a major component to everyday life, so UCP offers a way for all children to have fun using computers. Compuplay, short for computer play, offers specialized software and adaptive equipment to help provided to children with disabilities/ developmental delays, age 4 and up learn, create, explore and make decisions using the computer. Positive play methods are also used to further promote inclusivity and learning. Compuplay Camps are open to children of all ages and all abilities.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, key fundraising events (Holiday Gift Wrapping, Annual Golf Tournament) that benefit our Children's Center programming were not able to be held safely. NEPA GIVES is a way for us to work together to raise those important funds to help support the work we do for children with disabilities throughout Northeastern PA.
