About UCP of Northeastern Pennsylvania
Founded in 1953 as United Cerebral Palsy of Lackawanna County, today UCP of NEPA provides an array of services for children and adults with various disabilities. Although we have expertise in the field of cerebral palsy, over 75% of the people receiving our services have disabilities other than cerebral palsy.
The service area of each program differs but our overall area encompasses Lackawanna, Susquehanna, Wayne, Wyoming, Pike, Bradford, Monroe, Sullivan and Luzerne Counties.
The agency is licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services and is a member of United Cerebral Palsy Association, United Cerebral Palsy of Pennsylvania, Pennsylvania Association of Resources: Autism-Intellectual Disabilities (PAR), and the National Lekotek Center.
Primary program funding is provided by: PA Department of Human Services - Office of Developmental Programs and Office of Child Development & Early Learning, the Lackawanna-Susquehanna Behavioral Health-Intellectual Disabilities-Early Intervention Program, the Wayne County Office of Behavioral & Developmental Programs and Early Intervention, the Human Services Development Fund of Lackawanna County, the PA Office of Vocational Rehabilitation, the United Way of Lackawanna & Wayne Counties, the United Way of Wyoming County, the Pennsylvania Elks State Association, PIAT - Pennsylvania's Initiative on Assistive Technology, and the Scranton Area Foundation.
Our services and our service area have changed over the years, but our commitment to providing quality services that make a positive difference in the lives of persons with disabilities has never changed and never will.
